Bekasi, InfoPublik - Agricultural Quarantine Agency head Banun Harpini as the chairperson of West Java’s Special Program for Rice, Corn, and Soybean Self-Sufficiency initiated Paddy Field Expansion Movement reaching 23,905 hectares in Bekasi.
She inaugurated the project with Bekasi regent Neneng Khasanah Yassin and Bekasi district military commander. The farmer groups and irrigation farmers groups (Mitra Cai) in the regent also attended the event.
“The development in Bekasi is so rapid. However, I on behalf of Agricultural Ministry urge that the highest achievement in that development should be in agricultural sector," she said on Wednesday (8/3).
Ms. Harpini also called out local governments to pay attention on the protection of agriculture land through local regulation.
Bekasi regent agreed to the call and committed to maintain agricultural land in Bekasi. "We will keep the agricultural land," she said. (Translator: Sugiarti)
