Jakarta, InfoPublik - The government issued a policy through the Circular Letter of the Minister of Religion Number 5 of 2022 on Guidelines for the use of Speaker in Mosques and Musala (praying room). In response to this policy, Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister, Muhadjir Effendy, urged the public to understand and to read the circular thoroughly. "Please read the circular thoroughly and then apply it. The objective is very good, which is to maintain comfort and tolerance in the community. The use of loudspeaker (toa) is allowed, as long as it's reasonable," said Minister Muhadjir Effendy, Friday, February 25,2022. He also asked the mosque and musala managements (takmir), to read and to understand the meaning of the Circular. It is written in the Circular, the use of loudspeaker in mosques or prayer rooms has purposes. Namely, among others, to resound the call to prayer (adzan), salawat, and recitation of Qur'an. In addition, to make the voice of muazin audible to the congregation when broadcasting adzan (the call to prayer). Then to resound the voice of imam when praying in congregation, or the sermons and da'wah (religious propagation) to the wider community both inside and outside the mosque or prayer room. As stated by the Religion Minister, tolerance is essential in a pluralistic community. Therefore, Minister Muhadjir Effendy said that guideline is needed so that social harmony can be maintained properly, among others, by providing guideline on the use of loudspeaker in mosques or musala. "So that the policy that has been issued through the Circular Letter can be used as guidelines. Thus, the comfort and tolerance in the community can be better maintained," said the Minister.
