Jakarta, InfoPublik - The government assured that the national rice stock is enough until the end of the year. The country’s rice needs are fully supplied from domestic production.
"We should not worry because the rice supply is enough," Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution said in Jakarta, Monday (7/11).
He explained that the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) had purchased rice from local farmers in large quantities to anticipate the rice shortage in the market.
In the next one or two months, he added, farmers in various regions will harvest the rice. If it is abundant, the country may stop next year’s rice import.
The minister also predicted July’s inflation, i.e. during the fasting and Eid al-Fitr season, will be lower compared to the last year’s period because the amount of food production is able to slow the consumer goods price hike. (Translator: Sugiarti/Photo: Antara)
