Jakarta, InfoPublik - The Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) assessed it is reasonable for the Healthcare and Social Security Insurance (BPJS Kesehatan) to increase independent participants’ premium because their claims are higher than the workers’ or corporate participants’.
“The increase is for independent participants whose claims are considered high,” said the chairman of Apindo, Haryadi B. Sukamdani, Sunday (3/13).
He explained based on BPJS Kesehatan record, independent participants did not pay premium regularly. When they get ill, he continued, they register BPJS Kesehatan. But after they recover, they no longer pay the premium.
According to Mr. Sukamdani, the spirit of ‘mutual cooperation’ is more visible in corporate participants who pay premium every month. So, it is reasonable for the independent participants to be charged with higher fees.
He added that the increase will not affect the corporate expense, since it is only for independent participants, not corporate one. (Translator: Sugiarti)
