Jakarta, InfoPublik - Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Susi Pudjiastuti stated that KKP will revise fishing boat construction program with a smaller boat size, according to the communities’ needs.
"Currently, the demand for smaller boat is higher. Maybe, it is best for us to revise the program. If necessary, we will rebuild the large boats and add smaller ones," said Minister Pudjiastuti in the KKP’s Retreat at Hotel Century in Jakarta, Wednesday (2/24).
The changes in ships size according to the needs of society is allowed, said Ms. Pudjiastuti. She asserted that KKP should make relevant boats.
"I acknowledge that people tend to ask for small size boat, because it is more economical. We can reduce the large boats into smaller ones. The 30 GT boats will be reduced 10 percent and 20 GT will be reduced 20 percent. The 10 GT will be reduced 10 percent. All will be changed into the 5 GT boats," she said.
She added that the changes of ship size for the community needs are in accordance to the Nawacita—President Joko Widodo’s nine priorities. "If we talk about Nawacita, this is it," she said. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
