Jakarta, InfoPublik - Jakarta Provincial Government successfully developed e-Retribusi for tax, e-Aset for asset, and e-BKU for cash book management. The three applications were developed to ease the financial and regional asset management.
"These applications will improve the finance and asset record accuracy; optimize regional revenue; increase assets security; and control the cash position daily to realize the financial and assets management accountability," said the Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama—Ahok as he commonly known—at the systems launching event at the Jakarta City Hall, Friday (3/18).
According to Mr. Ahok, the three subsystems are part of the development of the integrated Financial Management Information System. The Jakarta Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), the Communication, Information Technology, and Public Relationa Office (Diskominfomas), and related agencies will continue to develop the applications to realize an integrated information system by the end of 2016.
The government continues to improve regional expenditure control by applying a non-cash-transaction policy. The policy enforces all expenditure transactions in the form of direct transfer to the third party. Therefore, any flow of fund can be traced through the cash management system.
In addition, the government revamped the asset management through information technology equipped with electronic barcode, image, and the land coordinate. Thus, all of the assets’ existence can be identified quickly and accurately.
Improvements were also made in the sector of regional revenue by closing the payment counters and replacing it with direct payment via bank. It is known as the non-cash revenue system which is connected online with banks. This system aims to ease tax service, to guarantee tax revenue accuracy, and to prevent misuse.
"We believe this system will make us more effective and efficient, and we can prevent corruption. If the system is poor, any good government employee will be tempted to corrupt,” he said. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
