Jakarta, InfoPublik - With a vaccination coverage of 166.65 million, Indonesia has successfully entered the top five countries in the world with the highest number of COVID-19 vaccination.

According to Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin’s official statement released on Thursday, 6 January, Indonesia is ranked fourth after China, India, and the United States, followed by Brazil in fifth place.

"Indonesia has injected 283,554,361 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, according to data from Our World in Data as of 4 January 2022. As a result of this achievement, Indonesia is now one of the top five countries in the world for vaccination coverage," said Minister Budi.

He emphasized that all elements of the nation, including the TNI/Polri, Ministries/Agencies, Regional Governments, Social Organizations, Religious Organizations, business players, and the general public, were instrumental in the vaccination program as part of the effort to end the pandemic in the country.

The government will continue to boost national vaccination coverage, which is expected to reach 208.2 million people by March or April 2022. Minister of Health also ensured that the domestic stock of the COVID-19 vaccine was safe.

Despite additional targets, such as children aged 6—11 years and an additional booster vaccination (third dose) on 12 January, the Minister of Health believed that the number of vaccines available is still adequate.

"We currently have a vaccine stock of roughly 140 million doses, with a goal of 50 million vaccinations in one month. We have also prepared a booster vaccination to anticipate Omicron. We are confident that the stock is safe," Minister stated.

Despite the fact that the number of people obtaining COVID-19 immunization continues to rise, the Minister of Health Budi cautioned the community that the risk of COVID-19 transmission still persists.

"Vaccination must continue to run to accelerate the achievement of the herd population and the 5M health protocol must truly be adopted in everyday life to give optimal protection," said Minister Budi.
