Jakarta, InfoPublik - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi appreciated the National Search and Rescue Agency Basarnas’ emergency-response in dealing with accident or disaster of any kind that may occur at any time.
Even the COVID-19 pandemic did not prevent Basarnas from being in the forefront in the event of an accident or disaster, Transportation Minister said.
"I express my appreciation to Basarnas for playing an active role in emergency-response which includes search and rescue, and evacuation of accidents or disasters throughout Indonesia," said Minister Budi while inspecting Basarnas' KN Wisnu 103 Ship, Friday 27 November.
He instructed all Basarnas staff to always maintain integrity, trust and personal health, and to consistently comply with health protocols during their time of service.
"We are ready to support Basarnas in humanitarian relief operations. Transportation Ministry has a number of fleets that are ready to be on standby in the time of need to support Basarnas' humanitarian missions. Let us together work hand in hand," said the Minister.
On this occasion, Transportation Minister also took his time to directly observe the modern facilities of the KN Wisnu 103 Ship which was inaugurated on 3 March.
The KN Wisnu 103 ship is one of the ships owned by Basarnas equipped with various modern SAR equipment, including Remotely Operate Vehicle (ROV), Multibeam Echosounder (MBES), Side Scan Sonar, and System Dynamic Position Zero (SDPZ).
The 66-meter-long ship is also equipped with a helideck with a fuel tank capacity of 500,000 liters and fresh water of 100,000 liters.
The ship will be used to carry out search and rescue operations in Java Sea waters. It can also be used as a logistics supply ship for other ships. This ship is also expected to help achieve an efficient and effective SAR operation.
