Jakarta, InfoPublik - Starting in 2017, Jakarta City Government will build 50 thousand units of low-cost apartment (rusun) to relocate residents residing along the banks of Ciliwung River.
Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok said the data recorded that around 75 thousands of illegal houses or plots lie in the Ciliwung riverbank.
"They need houses. Therefore, starting from next year we plan to build another 50 thousand units of low-cost apartment," said Ahok after inaugurating integrated Anggrek child friendly public space (RPTRA) in Cilandak, South Jakarta, Thursday (5/19).
According to him, Jakarta City Government allocates Rp. 8 trillion of budget to build the apartments. This year, the government has built 20 thousand units of the low-cost apartment. He hoped that around August next year, no later than October 2017, 20 thousand rusun will be completed.
"I believe the 20 thousand units of rusun can accommodate owners of illegal houses in Ciliwung riverbank," he said.
For Jakarta residents holding local ID card may rent the apartments after 2018, after the problems of in Ciliwung riverbank residents is addressed, hopefully before 2018," he said. (Siti Chodijah)
