Jakarta, InfoPublik – The Governor of Special Capital Region of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama offered to all public transport operators in the capital to join Transjakarta.
If they are willing, they will be paid with fare-per-kilometer system. "We offer them because we do not want the operators to stop operating. If you want to compete, let’s compete then. But if you are not strong enough to compete, accept my offer. We pay fare-per-kilometer," said Ahok—as he commonly known—in Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday (1/5).
According to him, by implementing the system, the drivers will no longer stop carelessly to get passengers. In addition, the drivers and conductors will get a salary of up to twice the provincial minimum wage.
"So, if you are willing to join, the better your drivers’ salary will be. You can also get more profit, better vehicles, and sole agents (ATPM) service guarantee," he said.
He also planned Transjakarta to cover all the routes in the capital. The plan will be initiated this year.
“I have strongly instructed to take all bus routes over this year. If you want to compete with us, please do so. Strong ones win," he said.
Many conspiracies are allegedly conducted in public transportation route licenses. If ones want to get the busy route, then they must bribe the personnel.
“There is a rumor that if you want to get a busy bus route, you must bribe. That is ridiculous. So, what happens in Jakarta is big buses will only operate in busy routes,” he said. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
