Jakarta, InfoPublik-Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) has no issues with the establishment of the final voter list (DPT) whether by the Home Affairs Ministry or the General Election Commission (KPU).

"It does not matter which agency establishes the DPT insofar as no voting rights of citizens are lost. We will continue to carry out the supervisory function following the provisions of the law," said Bawaslu commissioner Fritz Edward Siregar, in his written statement on Monday (2/12/).

Fritz explained that the KPU conducts a multilevel voter list’s verifying and updating,  starts from sub-district level to provincial level before establishing the final version.

KPU officers also directly validate the potential voters  (DP4) from the Home Affairs  Ministry. "The officers observe whether or not the voters’ data are still correct, or whether or not they are still eligible to vote. That was the part of the verifying and updating process before the data are established as DPT," he said.

Previously, KPU commissioner Viryan Aziz said the establishment process of the DPT was effective and efficient. KPU  always follows the procedure when synchronizing the DP4 with the population data at the district, municipal, or provincial level before determining the DPT.

"There are no obstacles. There are indeed discussions about indirect elections. What we should take into consideration is election implementation by the Home Affairs Ministry," Viryan concluded. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
