Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesian Defense Minister H. Prabowo Subianto received the honorary visit of Ghanaian Defense Minister Dominic B.A. Nitiwul, at Defense Ministry office, Jakarta, Thursday (21/11) to explore defense cooperation between the two countries.
This visit was also aimed to strengthen the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Ghana, particularly in exploring cooperation in the field of defense.
Upon arrival, the Ghanaian Defense Minister was accorded with guard of honor ceremony. Defense Minister Prabowo Subiantio later introduced the officials of Indonesian Defense Ministry including Deputy Defense Minister Wahyu Sakti Trenggono, Defense Ministry General Secretary TNI Rear Admiral Agus Setiadji and several other Defense Ministry officials.
After the ceremony, both ministers held a bilateral meeting to explore defense cooperation between the two countries. Such cooperation has not been significantly developed at this moment.
Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the visit of Ghanaian Defense Minister along with his delegation. Indonesia is widely open to all positive things that allow beneficial cooperation with any friendly nations, including Ghana.
According to Minister Prabowo, one of the potentials that can be included in the cooperation between Indonesia and Ghana is cooperation in defense industry products.
Meanwhile, the Ghanaian Defense Minister also expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of Indonesian Defense Minister. He also sent congratulatory message for the appointment of Prabowo as Indonesian Defense Minister that was held not too long ago.
Through this visit, the Ghanaian Defense Minister said that his intention was to strengthen the friendly relation between Ghana and Indonesia that has been well. Both countries have something in common since both nation fought for their freedom.
In his opinion, the cooperation in defense between both countries is crucial, which can be started from cooperation in education and training through student exchange and inter-institution military education.
Ghana would also like to explore cooperation in the defense industry sector with Indonesia. The reason being Indonesia is an example of a developing country that currently has a rapidly developing defense industry.
In addition to cooperation in defense, the Ghanaian Defense Minister also admitted that he admired the democracy in Indonesia that can be a good example of democracy.
