KPU Submits Reports on Presidential and Regional Elections

Jakarta, InfoPublik - The General Election Commission (KPU) submitted a number of reports to President Joko Widodo, including the 2019 Presidential Election and the 2020 Regional Elections.

KPU chairman Arief Budiman stated that KPU also submitted report on the institutional governance.

“We disclosed the whole implementation stages of 2019 presidential and regional elections in our report document. However, only underlying matters that we will describe here,” Arief said in his written statement, Monday (11/11/2019).

He added that from 2004 to 2019, the number of female candidates increased. "It Increased as mandated by the law on women's representation. The number of elected candidates (for the House of Representatives and Regional Representatives Council) is also increased from 131 persons in 2014 to 162 persons in 2019," he explained.

Regarding voter participation number, Arief stated that a decline happened in 1998 to 2009 elections.

“Nonetheless, the 2014 election voter participation rose but with a very small percentage. 2019 voter number climbed significantly from 75% to 82%. Thus, it increased 7%, and this exceeded the national target of 77.5%," he concluded.
