Jakarta, InfoPublik - General Elections Commission (KPU) chairman Arief Budiman stated that elections in Indonesia have drawn international attention.
"Election organizers in several countries are interested in studying elections in Indonesia," Arief said, in his written statement on Sunday (15/09/2019).
In the last two weeks, he had been invited to be speaker of international forums related to elections.
"Several countries have expressed their appreciation to Indonesia and stated their intention to study the holding of elections from Indonesia. In Moscow, during an Asia-wide election organizers forum, we had the chance to share knowledge. Next week, we are delivering presentation in Fiji. Furthermore, this year India has sent a team to study elections in Indonesia. India is the second largest country in the world to hold elections," he explained.
“Simultaneous elections in Indonesia are considered as the world’s most complicated elections”, Arief said.
However, those elections have proceeded relatively safe and peaceful in spite of multi-party participation and multi-cultural society.
"Indonesia has set a historical record for being capable of organizing the largest general election in a day," he concluded.
