Jakarta, InfoPublik- Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo is preparing a draft bill on new capital establishment. It will be discussed with the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia.
"The bill is being harmonized. We are waiting for the response from the House speaker to the letter from the President," said Tjahjo in his office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (27/08/2019).
He reckoned that currently the ministry is still conducting studies related to the capital relocation to a part of North Penajam Paser and a part of Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. The government will continue perfecting regulation related to the plan.
"In principle, a number of regulations still need to be perfected" he stressed.
Other than that, he stated that further discussion on government administration in the new capital has not been initiated.
"While continuing the plan, the State Secretariat is also considering which ministries to be moved immediately, perhaps after two or three years of the capital development process," he said.
He ensured that East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor as well as local governments and indigenous people are ready to provide assistance in realizing the relocation.
"Next year, infrastructure development will take place first owing to the existing condition of the area which is mainly forest," he added.
Previously, President Joko Widodo officially announced that the new capital will be in East Kalimantan Province. (Reporter: Eko Budiono, Translator: Erik Limantara)
