Infrastructure Development Must Consider People’s Welfare

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Policy Analyst of the Secretariat General and Expertise Board of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Fitriani stated that National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) infrastructure development must also pay attention to the welfare of the people living in the surrounding area, in this regard Langkat Regency, a region where the construction of Lake Toba tourism supporting infrastructure is currently underway.

"The underway infrastructure development of Lake Toba's National Tourism Strategic Area must also pay attention to its surrounding area. We cannot leave the people behind or let them to become victims of the development," Fitriani explained after welcoming the member of Regional People's Representative Assembly  (DPRD) of Langkat Regency in Jakarta , Friday, (8/9).

Furthermore, she said community development is also needed in addition to the infrastructure development. "Later on, the local communities will be able to contribute by selling local handicraft products for instance as the result of said community development. The Lake Toba KSPN development is also an effort to increase business capability of local communities living around Lake Toba," Fitriani said.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of Langkat Regency DPRD Surya Alam stated that the visit of his entourage was to ask for clarification on several issues particularly on development issues in Langkat Regency. "We hope that this visit will help us in making a better program and follow-up," he said.
