Home Ministry: PR Plays Important Role in Preventing Hoaxes

Jakarta, the InfoPublik - Home Ministry stated that public relations (PR) plays significant roles in preventing hoaxes and becoming a trusted information source.

"The central and regional governments public relations must strengthen their synergy. If they are solid, the spreads of hoaxes can be prevented," said Home Ministry’s information center head Bahtiar  in a written statement on Saturday (5/18).

According to Bahtiar, improving the capacity of human resources in public relations must also be considered.

"Technology mastery is also important as a means to stop hoaxes," he added.

Bahtiar also stated that Home Ministry’s authority in managing public information and communications, in accordance with the Law No. 23 of 2014 on Regional Government, is mandatory. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
