Presidential Candidates Registration Period may be extended, KPU

Jakarta, InfoPublik - The General Election Commission (KPU) will extend the registration period for presidential candidates and vice presidential candidates if no registration were made until Friday (8/10).

"If until 10 August , at 24.00 West Indonesia Time, there is only one candidate pair registered or there is none at all registered, the registration period will be extended by 1x7 days," said KPU Chairman Arief Budiman, at the Harris Vertu Hotel, Tuesday (8/7).

According to Arief, the second registration period will be commenced following the absence of registered candidates during the first period extension. "If it has been extended twice and the condition is still the same, any existing candidates who meet the criteria will pass to the next stage," he said.

It is provided by the KPU Regulation Number 22 Year 2018 that KPU could extend the registration period of the presidential and vice presidential candidates if only one pair of candidates is registered.
