Political Observer Lely Ariani suggested that legislative bodies should provide precise regulation related to the requirements of political party cadres who aspire to become members of the house of representatives.

"There should be a law that limits the legislative candidates," Lely Ariani said in Jakarta, Sunday (22/7).

She reckoned that the current regulation governing the requirements of legislative candidates is still very loose. As a result, many house members may easily switch from one political party to another and are not committed to the welfare of the people.

"Politics is pragmatic, switching political parties is common," he said.

She hoped, in the future, the representatives of the people will be able to formulate a regulation that bind the legislative candidates to have commitment in improving the people's welfare through the vision and mission carried out by their respective parties about the ideal administration of a country.

She concluded by stating that collaboration is needed in a system, and we need to put high level officials forward. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
