Legislative candidates may submit dispute settlement requests

Jakarta, InfoPublik - Legislative candidates may submit requests for dispute settlement to the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).

"Only political parties and legislative candidates who suffer direct losses may submit the requests. Requests must be submitted at maximum of three days after the issuance of a decision or report from the KPU [General Election Commission]," said Bawaslu commissioner Rahmat Bagja in his written statement on Monday (7/23).

According to Rahmat, the dispute settlement process takes 12 days, starting from the mediation stage to the adjudication session.

"We will check the request application for three working days. If an application meets the formal and material requirements, it will be set to process and the trial will be scheduled. If otherwise, we will return the application," he explained.

He added that the decision of the dispute settlement is final and binding to KPU. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
