DPR Extends Deliberation on MD3 Law Revision

Jakarta, InfoPublik – The House of Representatives (DPR) will extend the period of deliberation of the revision of the  Law onPeople’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD)  and Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) during the next hearing.

DPR Deputy Speaker Fahri Hamzah said DPR has decided to prolong the discussion despite the fat that thelaw is included in the national legislation program (Prolegnas)., to provide sufficient time for a more indepth study on the articles.

"We are also conducting a more comprehensive study in the Reformation Implementation Team, for there is a need to make a more substantial change," said Fahri Hamzah at Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (1/3).

He continued that the discussion of this legislation is still a drag from various parties, so it is reasonable to give additional time to study it. For example, there has been a circulating idea of the change of title of the legislation. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
