Bawaslu Prepares Regulation Draft on ASN Neutrality

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Bawaslu RI is preparing a regulation draft on the supervision of the neutrality of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN), Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police (Polri).

"This is a matter of maintaining the neutrality of ASN, TNI, and Police...we cannot let their institutions involved in the politics.We will ensure it regulated in Bawaslu Regulation (Perbawaslu), specifically regarding the monitoring of neutrality of ASN, TNI, and Polri," said Bawaslu Chairman Abhan, in his written statement, Monday (1/8).

According to Abhan, Perbawaslu will regulate how ASN, TNI, Police who have registered themselves to not use their institution to mobilize political interests.

"The point is when they have declared to be enrolled and have joined political parties, they cannot use their institution to mobilize their personal political interests," he explained.

He asserted that when the draft is final, Bawaslu will soon conduct consultation meeting with Commission II of Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
