The spreading of fake news does happens not only not only in Indonesia, but also in many other countries. It becomes a challenge and is getting more alarming. "I think this is the consequences of the public openness. We must face it just like other countries do," He said after attending the Bogor Open Archery Championship 2017, Sunday (1/22).
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo determined to seek the best solution to overcome the spread of fake news primarily through social media. In fact, in every opportunityhe urges people to return to Indonesia’s fundamental values.
According to the President Joko Widodo, community must begin to create a new culture, to build values of decency and modesty in expressing our ideas or comments in social media. "Do not incite, do not slander, do not spread false news, do not spread hatred speech," He said.
The President is optimistic that government together with public are able to counteract the spread of false news. Therefore, he has always emphasized optimism to public.
