Jakarta, InfoPublik - House of Representatives Commission XI Member Heri Gunawan requested Indonesian National Police (Polri) to seriously support a healthy investment climate. According to him, to date, Indonesia is still ranked 109th in terms of ease in doing business. Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo expects this position to be improved to 40th in 2017.
"The ease of doing business is very important to attract investors. In addition, the government also applies tax amnesty policy to repatriate capital from overseas. Polri needs to be aware of these facts," said Heri in Jakarta, Saturday (9/10).
He reminded that in order to avoid bad precedent, Polri must not protect debtor who does not pay its debt to foreign investor.
He continued that the problems between debtor and creditor must be subject to agreement of both parties from which both parties cannot run away. If both parties can’t resolve the problems, they can bring it to the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to be resolved.
"Since business competition is very tight, Polri should be alert of groups who are inteded to defame Indonesia abroad by spreading false news and should not give them the opportunities," he said.
He explained that Indonesia needs to promote proper practices in order to support ease of doing business and invites foreign investors. (Translator: Siti Chodijah)
