Jakarta, InfoPublik- Developing anti-corruption character with integrity in children can be done in an easy, inexpensive and fun way, for example by story reading, playing, and enjoying music and culture.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held Honest Kids Festival 2016 on Wednesday (8/31) and Thursday (9/1) at Ecovention, Ancol, Jakarta, in order to grow and develop anti-corruption character in children at early age. The event was attended by KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo, and Minister of Character Development Sector’s Advisor to Culture and Education Arie Budiman.
According to KPK Chairman, to create a clear order of life, we need an anti-corruption education system that contains the dissemination of information on the forms of corruption, as well as their prevention measures. Therefore, "Anti-corruption should not just be a slogan. That value must come from the souls that understand and practice anti-corruption behavior and it must be nurtured since early ages,” he said.
With that belief, this Honest Kids Festival was held for the first time. This two-day event was participated by three thousand children from 50 kindergartens and 50 elementary schools (SD) in Jakarta. There were three organized zones of activities, namely Literacy Zone, Music and Culture Zone, as well as Game Zone.
Literacy Zone presented several activities, such as storytelling, book discussions, science experiments, batik painting and drawing. This event was divided into three main activities, namely Story Corner, Image Corner and Craft Corner.
Meanwhile, the Play Zone provided three main activities, namely Taman Bermainfor children aged 4-6 years; Bandar Kumpulfor elementary school children; and Bale Kreasi that encouraged children to be creative to make a variety of toys from materials that are easily obtainable. The Music & Culture Zone featured a number of cultural and artistic performances which were full of integrity values. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
