Jakarta, InfoPublik- Ministry of Home Affairs’ Secretary Director General of Politics and Public Administration of the Budi Prasetyo is optimistic that the unification of three Election Acts will make government administration more effective.
"The synchronization of Law No. 42 of 2008 on the Election of President and Vice President, Law No. 15 of 2011 on the Implementation of Elections, and Law No. 8 of 2012 on the Election of DPR, DPRD, and DPD is expected to strengthen the presidential system," said Budi at Bengkulu Provincial Government office, Tuesday (8/23).
According to him, government elected from the elections will obtain strong legitimacy. He said that efforts from all components of society are required to maintain the quality of the elections. "Efforts to improve the quality of elections are part of the process of strengthening the democracy as well as means of realizing effective and efficient governance," he said.
He added that the success of election relies not only on the integrity of organizers and participants of election, but also on all stakeholders’ efforts. Meanwhile, Bengkulu Deputy Governor Rohidin Mersyah said that the public hold a strategic role in building democracy.
Regulatory aspect is important to ensure that the public really feel the government function. He also advised all stakeholders to provide comprehensive input. (Translator: Siti Chodijah)
