Govt urges Indonesians in Hong Kong to succeed tax amnesty

Hong Kong, InfoPublik - The government sought to succeed the tax amnesty program. One of the efforts is disseminating the tax amnesty program abroad.

Representatives from the Finance Ministry  urged Indonesian citizens who resided in Hong Kong and surrounding areas to participate in the tax amnesty program. The representatives included budgeting and risk management director general Robert Pakpahan and Finance Minister’s expert staff in tax compliance Suryo Utomo.

The entourage met the Indonesians at the Indonesia Business Outlook forum at the InterContinental Hotel, Hong Kong, Monday (8/22). The event was organized by the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara).

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) board of commissioners’ chairperson Muliaman Hadad presented Indonesia’s economic development. He expressed optimism toward Indonesia's economic growth which is much better compared the surrounding emerging markets.

Mr. Muliaman explained that the financial industry in Indonesia is prepared to support tax amnesty program. "I am sure the nation's financial industry can become businesspersons’ partner to invest in Indonesia," he said.

In the event attended by about 150 Indonesian businessmen in Hong Kong, Guang Zhou and Macau, Himbara’s chairperson Asmawi Syam also expressed full support to succeed the ongoing tax amnesty program which will end on March 31, 2017.

Soegeng Rahardjo, Indonesia’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to China and Mongolia, who also attended the event, invited all participants to use tax amnesty opportunity. He urged them to take part in building strong, prosperous, dignified, and equitable Indonesia.

The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong is opening tax amnesty services for Indonesian society in Hong Kong and surrounding areas. The services include e-registration to obtain tax identification number (NPWP), e-filing to report Annual Income Tax Return (SPT PPh), the asset statement filing, and tax amnesty consultation.
