MOFA: ASEAN Maintains Stability of Matters Beyond Economy in Facing Uncertainty

Jakarta, InfoPublik - In facing global uncertainty, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), an organization for countries in the Southeast Asian region, will strengthen regional stability of matters beyond economic affairs.

"Regional stability is the first and most fundamental matter beyond the economic affairs. So, we need to maintain regional stability," said Foreign Ministry's ASEAN cooperation director general Sidharto Suryodipuro at Forum Merdeka Barat 9 (FMB 9) online dialogue in Jakarta, Monday, 6 February.

He said ASEAN is lucky to have multilayered and multichannel diplomacy as capital.

ASEAN will also strengthen energy resilience through cooperation.

"We will help each other and build cooperation with world food-producing countries," he said.

Sidharto highlighted some sensitive issues in economic affairs, such as food and energy security cooperation among countries.

"We will strengthen cooperation among ASEAN members and the world's food-producing countries," he said.

Likewise, cooperation will be developed in the fields of energy, health, and economy digitalization. The efforts will be optimized to make the economy competitive at the ASEAN and global levels.

However, Sidharto reminded the region needs an ecosystem that has the same rules.
