Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesia is aiming to create travel bubble arrangement following the country’s steps to ease the cross-border restrictions with countries hit by coronavirus (Covid-19).
The government took this step to accommodate important business trips during the coronavirus pandemic.
"Several countries have begun discussions about the arrangement of travel bubbles that will take place in stages and be monitored. Health protocols are key element in the discussion of the plan to establish this travel bubble. And like other countries, Indonesia is currently exploring the possibility of having travel bubble arrangement for important business trips with a number of countries," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in a written statement on Thursday (18 June).
"We are holding talks with a number of countries about various issues including the scope of arrangements, the requirements and health protocols," she said.
Previously Australia and New Zealand were the first countries to carry the travel bubble concept considering the declining trend in the number of Covid-19 cases in the two countries. (Photo: Mofa)
