Minister Prabowo Meets Philippine Defense Minister to Free Abductee of Abu Sayyaf

Jakarta, InfoPublik - Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto has met Philippine Defense Minister Delfin N. Lorenzana in an meeting held on Friday 27 December 2019 at Villamor Air Base in Manila.

During the meeting, Minister Prabowo specifically conveyed appreciation and gratitude from President Joko Widodo regarding the release of 2 Indonesian citizens who were held hostage by Abu Sayyaf group. He also expressed his condolences related to the death of the Filipino army in the operation.

The two ministers also discussed various efforts to enhance defense cooperation within a bilateral or sub-regional framework. Both ministers also agreed to increase cooperation in dealing with the security situation in Sulu waters. Also present at the meeting were Indonesian Embassy Manila Deputy Chief of Mission Widya Rahmanto, and officials of Indonesian Ministry of Defense and Indonesian National Armed Forces.
