Jakarta, InfoPublik – Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo affirmed that inspectorate’s role in the regions should be strengthened.
"It’s a pity if a regency or city official is arrested for just Rp10 million issue. Moreover, Corruption Eradication Commission [KPK] investigate it. Where are the regional inspectorate?" said Minister Tjahjo in his statement on Monday (5/29).
Currently, regional inspectorate’s position is still under the regional secretary (Sekda) which makes it difficult to perform its tasks.
“Regional inspectorate should be equal to Sekda. How can they control the regional working units if it is under Sekda?" he said.
Meanwhile, Home Affairs Ministry’s inspector general Sri Wahyuningsih said KPK complained that they never received report from the regional inspectorate. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
