Jakarta, InfoPublik – Home Ministry had found out that village apparatus reform is needed because many regions have not complied the Law Number 6 of 2014 on Villages.

“In East Java [for example], the [heads of village] terms of office are vary. It causes jealousy and I have reported to the President on the need of village apparatus reform,” said Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo in a press statement, Thursday (5/18).

He underlined that the ministry could not promote all village apparatus to become State Civil Apparatus (ASN) yet.

Moreover, the government had considered that the budget would be very large because there are more than 74,000 villages in Indonesia.

“However, there are pros and cons for some of the village apparatus. They feel disadvantaged for being a civil servant because they manage a large cultivation land,” he said.

He added that the ministry is considering the best solutions to solve this matter. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
