Jakarta, Info Publik - Auckland University of Technology (AUT) of New Zealand’s Director of Pacific Media Center David Robie said the World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) 2017 will boost the freedom of press in Southeast Asia.
"As the host of WPFD 2017, Indonesia has maintained a good freedom of press which of course will influence other Southeast Asian countries," said Robie at the World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) 2017 held at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Tuesday (2/5).
"The press in Indonesia has significantly contributed in supporting the progress of democracy," said Robie.
He expected reports of WPFD 2017to be optimized to increase public’s awareness of WPFD 2017.
Robie revealed that the freedom of the press in Indonesia is better than in New Zealand. "Despite having thousands of media including online, print, and electronic, the level of press freedom in Indonesia is still far above New Zealand," he concluded.
