Jakarta, InfoPublik - the Association of Indonesian Television Journalists ( IJTI) continues to improve the qualification of journalists as spearhead of  dissemination of information by organizing various national and international journalism events.

"We are committed especially to television companies to improve their capacity and competence so they can create good products for public," said Yadi Hendriana, Chairman of IJTI during a press conference at Kenari room, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) ), Tuesday (2/5).

This is in line with the agenda of World Press Freedom Day (WPFD), related to improving the quality of human journalists in the country.

"We call it reaffirmation, because from 2012, we already have a commitment that is in line to the WPFD agenda," said Yadi.

On the other hand, he believed that  improving quality of journalists will bring positive impact on the spreading of fake news (hoaxes). A good journalistic product can certainly attract people’s attention rather than news that has not been proven right.

"The large number of  hoaxes is a challenge. Mainstream media products must be able light amidst darkness," he concluded. (translator: Sugiarti)
