Jakarta, InfoPublik – Gaining trust to host the World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) 2017, Indonesia is potential to become the world’s role model of press freedom.
"It is an encouraging moment to be trusted as the host of the WPFD 2017. This implies that Indonesia could become a role model of press freedom in the world," Press Council Chairman Yosep Adi Prasetio stated at the WPFD Press Conference in Jakarta Covention Center (JCC) on Tuesday (5/2) .
He said that the development of media companies in Indonesia continues to increase and it adds the value of Indonesia in the world. Therefore, we have to share this with the press from all over the world.
"This is our first successful negotiation with UNESCO to share experience with international community," he said.
He also appealed to all national press workers from print, online and electronic media to participate in every discussion in the WPFD 2017. It will increase journalists' knowledge related to the current condition of journalism in various countries.
"WPFD 2017 will present interesting topics to discuss with international speakers," he concluded.
The WPFD 2017 is held in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on 1-4 May 2017. The first day witnessed discussion fora with national speakers. On the third day, Vice President Jusuf Kalla is scheduled to inaugurate the event. (Reporter: Tri Antoro, Translator: Rina Alexandra)
