TNI Helps Police Securing Polling Statios

Jakarta, InfoPublik – TNI chief Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo said one TNI personnel will be stationed at each polling station (TPS) for the Jakarta’s Regional Head Election’s (Pilkada) second round which will take place on April 19, 2017.

"We are working together with the Chief of Police in securing the election. TNI-police personnel will be stationed in polling stations," said TNI chief Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo, at the TNI Headquarters Cilangkap, Wednesday (4/12).

One TNI personnel will be deployed in every polling station to assist the police personnel. "The TNI personnel will help in security  Under the Operational Control (BKO),” he said.

TNI chief stated that the number of military personnel deployed will be adjusted with the number of polling stations. There is an additional 11 polling stations in this second round of gubernatorial election.   Previously, there were 13,023 polling stations, and now there will be 13,034 stations. "Of course there will be addition in security personnel. At least one personnel  will be stationed in every polling stations," said Gatot.

The detail for the mechanism of protection will be discussed later with the Chief of Police in a joint assembly to be held before theregional election take place.
