TNI, Police Ready to Secure King Salman’s Visit and IORA Summit 2017

Jakarta, InfoPublik - Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) are ready to secure the visit of King of Saudi Arabia andthe first IORA Leaders’ Summit in Indonesia. Both forces have held a Joint Forcess call for preparedness for VVIP  Protection.

"The VVIP protection task is very vital, anything can happen. Therefore, TNI must always be on guard," said TNI’s Army Strategic Reserve Commander(Pangkostrad) Lt. Gen. Edy Rahmayadi as the VVIP Joint Protection commanderto media after leading the Joint Forces VVIP Protection call for preparednesson Saudi Arabia’s King, Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud’s state visit and the first Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Leaders’ Summit 2017 at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Tuesday (2/28).

Lt. Gen. Edy Rahmayadi stated that in regards with the alleged terrorist attack which took place in Bandung some time ago,  the military is vigilant, and have hed a call for prepared ness. "All have been anticipated. Until now, there are no additional personnel assigned in securing the VVIP," he said.

Furthermore, Lt. Gen. Edy Rahmayadi also said the call for preparedness held today was followed by TNI commanders and personnel, including TNI’s main weaponry system. "The arrangement for King Salman protection starts from 1-9 March 2017. While the security arrangement of IORA Summit starts from 5-7 March," he explained.

He added that the number of personnel on the VVIP protection for King Salman’s state visit is 7,084 TNI-Polri personnel. Meanwhile, the number of personnel for the IORA Summit is 12,000 TNI-Polri personnel. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
