Jakarta, InfoPublik – House of representative’s Election Draft Bill Special Committee is going to visit Germany on 11 March. The committee led by Lukman Edy will visit Germany and Mexico to conduct comparative studies.

The visit is planned to last until 16 March 2017. According to Lukman, their visit to Germany is aimed to study the country’s election system and to compare it to the Indonesian system. "The previous Indonesian Election Bill adopted the Germany’s electoral system. And today, Germany is conducting an evaluation of their systems, including the implementation of electronic vote," said Lukman, in Jakata, Saturday (2/25).

Lukman added that Germany is also evaluating their electoral system. Especially regarding the efforts to reduce the gap of disproportionality, district magnitude, vote conversion formula to the seats and arrangement of electoral districts.

In addition, the committee also wants to obtain the full confidence of the implementation of e-voting. "The Elections Bill includes norms that regulate electronic vote implementation plan. However, we have impression that the government is still hesitant," said the politician from Riau.

While in Germany, he said, the e-voting system is now being evaluated. Therefore, the committee considered the need to obtain a complete picture of Germany’s experience.

Furthermore, the committee will also visit Mexico to obtain a full sample of presidential system, multiparty elections, simultaneous election, and the threshold choices applied.
