Jakarta, InfoPublik - Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo stated that the General Election Commission (KPU) had anticipated the Jakarta residents who had not been listed in the Final Voter List (DPT) of the Simultaneous Regional Election 2017.
“However, there is procedure [to be able to cast the ballot]. Have their names been listed in DPT or not? If they have not been listed, they must confirm whether they have recorded their data for electronic residential ID [e-KTP] or not. If they have not been listed, they can use e-KTP, but they forget to bring KK [Family Card] as a residential proof,” said the Minister in a press release, Saturday (2/18).
He urged KPU to immediately evaluate the members of Polling Station Working Committee (KPPS) because the policies implemented at each polling station (TPS) on the Simultaneous Regional Election 2017 varied. For example, there were a number of voters that could not vote because they ran out of ballots.
“KPPS evaluation is the authority of KPU, but we will offer our opinion. One TPS is different than the other, different information, different policy,” he said.
He explained that KPU had conducted simulation for many times before the election day.
He said that the citizen should not lose their constitutional rights to choose the leaders. “In principle, we have learned that the legitimate rights of the citizen in every city to vote must be accommodated,” he concluded. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
