Jakarta,InfoPublik - General Elections Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI) is going to conduct a test on electronic recapitulation system (e-recapitulation) to quicken the voting recapitulation in general election.
However, the system would not be implemented in the simultaneous regional election on February 15, 2017 because the system is still in the trial phase. “We are attempting to obtain a system that is capable of collecting the vote result quickly, accurately, correctly as well as concluding the election result immediately,” said Commisioner of KPU RI, Hadar Nafis Gumay in a press release, Monday (2/6).
He stated that the inclusion of digital technology in the electoral system would become a bright spot in the development of democracy in Indonesia. “What we are discussing today is the recapitulation, not the voting system (e-voting), we are not ready yet to implemente-voting. We need a better preparation,” he said.
He added that e-recapitulation system would rely on the operators in the lowest level in filling the C1 form or other forms from the polling stations (TPS). (Translator: Erik Limantara)
