Jakarta, InfoPublik – Home Ministry’s Village Administrations Director General Nata Irawan said that rural area issues should be handled by both central and local governments.
"Currently, as many as 18 ministries focused on the rural development. But each worked on its own, hence we need this forum to maximize all the programs related to the rural areas," he said in the press release on Thursday (2/2).
Nata explained that the existing problems related to rural areas have become a collective responsibility. Therefore, all rural programs must be syncronized. He urged all stakeholders in the region to discuss and address all upcoming issues.
"If we disregarded and misunderstood the rural needs, the problem would not be solved," he said. Furthermore, he added that the central government must strengthen its assistance to the rural administration. "The success of rural development is highly dependent on the synergy between central and local governments," he said.(Translator: Rina Alexandra)
