Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesia House of Representatives (DPR RI) has four new members joining the house through the inter-time replacement (PAW) mechanism. The inauguration and oath-taking took place in the plenary session on Friday (4/29).
One of the four new members is Abubakar A Assegaf Sayed from first Riau electoral district Demokrat Party Faction. He replaces the late Mukhniarti Basko, who passed away last January.
Sayed was designated as a house member of inter-time replacement through Presidential Decree No. 44/P of 2016. He second highest number of votes after Mukhniarti, who replaced the late Sutan Sukarnotomo who also passed away from illness.
On the same occasion three other members of inter-time replacement were also inaugurated, namely Eddy Kusuma Wijaya of third Banten electoral district PDI, Abdul Halim of first Banten electoral district PPP and Mukhtar Tompo of first South Sulawesi electoral district Hanura.
Sayed admitted that he regarded his appointment as representative of the people of Riau as a mandate. He promised to carry out public trust wholeheartedly.
"I will take advantage of the authority of the house to promote development in Riau. Many things must be done with high speed,” said Sayed after the inauguration.
Because the inauguration was taken place along with the house’s plenary session closing, Sayed and the other new members directly took the recess period to visit their respective electoral district in order to collect the aspirations of their constituents and conduct supervision.
