Jakarta, InfoPublik - Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama condemned the bombing in the area of Sarinah, Jalan M.H. Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Thursday (14/1).

The action was not taught by any religion and raised terror to the citizens. "We condemn such actions, taking someone's life arbitrarily. These cowardly acts are not justified at all by the teachings of any religion. You are not God so you cannot take people’s life. They want to evoke terror,” said Governor Ahok—as he commonly known—at the Jakarta City Hall, Thursday (1/14).

A number of explosions occurred around the Sarinah shopping center in Central Jakarta. The first bomb exploded at around 10.45 at a Starbucks Coffee Shop in Djakarta Theater.

Subsequently, a second explosion occurred at the police station across the Sarinah building or at the intersection of Jalan M.H. Thamrin and Jalan Wahid Hasyim. The second bomb was suspected to be a suicide bombing, three alleged perpetrators and one policeman were killed. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
