LPSK Ensures the Jakarta Attacks Casualties Treatment and Protection

Jakarta, InfoPublik - Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) strongly condemned the bombs explosions and firearms violence resulting dozens of casualties at the Jalan M.H. Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Thursday (1/14).

 

"The re-occurrence of terror in Indonesia is unfortunate. We hope the authorities are able to arrest the perpetrators immediately to restore conducive atmosphere," said LPSK Chairman Abdul Haris Semendawai in Jakarta, Thursday (1/14).

 

He said there is no justification for the perpetrators of terror, moreover it inflicted casualties, either injured or killed.

 

According to Mr. Semendawai, LPSK is going to coordinate with the police to record the casualties. The agency has also sent a team to a number of hospitals that treat the victims. It was important so that the victims can get appropriate treatment.

 

"In accordance with its duties and functions, the Agency may provide assistance to the victims both medically and psychologically.

 

“The Agency strongly supports the efforts of the police to apprehend the terrorists and those suspected of being involved behind the heinous acts. However, there are another important things besides arresting the terrorists, namely how the victims can get medical and psychological treatment,” he said.

 

For this reason, the process of victims identification and record are also very important. “We must identify the witnesses immediately and protect them for the sake of the legal process and their security," he concluded. (Translator: Erik Limantara)
