Three Stations Inaugurated, Lebak Regent Proposed Special Train to Transport Agricultural and Marine Commodities.

Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesian Transportation Ministry’s Director General of Railways Hermanto Dwiatmoko, accompanied by Lebak Regent, Iti Octavia Jayabaya, inaugurated the operation of three stations of which the renovation have completed in Maja Station, Wednesday (5/11).

The three stations are Kebayoran Station, Parung Panjang Station and Maja Station. In addition, they also inaugurated the operation of Parungpanjang Maja lane double track and electrification.

Mr. Dwiatmoko explained that the development of the three stations was started in the mid of 2014. "The total fund for the three stations came from the state budget, which is amounted to about Rp112 billion with a multi-year contract," he said.

On this occasion, Lebak Regent Iti Octavia Jayabaya asked Directorate General of Railway to provide a special train to transport agricultural and marine commodities.

Mrs. Octavia said that most people in Lebak and  Maja work in agriculture and marine sectors that the special train is required to transport agricultural and marine products to Jakarta easier and faster.

"Lebak’s main marine commodity is tuna. Most of its Tuna is brought to and sold in Jakarta. Very often, it also bartered with products from Jakarta. If this request is approved, it will boost the economy of Lebak people," she said. (Translator: Sugiarti)
