Jakarta, InfoPublik – Indonesia Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) has organized  internship program for 300 young entrepreneurs in Bali. A total of 100 participants came respectively from Bangli, Denpasar and Klungkung. The government has been conducting this internship program since 13 February 2016.

Ministry’s Deputy of Human Resource Development Budi Prakoso Susetyo said there were 500 young entrepreneurs participated in the program, 200 of whom were sent into field in West Kalimantan and Central Sulawesi.

"The aim of this internship activities is to prepare strong young enterpreneurs in entering the world of business as new players. This program lasted for 25 days,” Prakoso explained in an official statement in Jakarta on Sunday (20/3).

According to him, this program was also intended to encourage youngsters to become an enterpreneur. Right now, the number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia is still low, about 1.65 percent of the total of Indonesian population.

Meanwhile, the number of entrepreneurs in the United States reached 11.5 percent, Singapore 7.2 percent, Japan 11 percent, China 10 percent, and Malaysia 3 percent. Prakoso hoped that the number of business doers in Indonesia can reach more than two percent, as it is an indicator for a prosperous country.

Currently, the number of national unemployment has reached 7.2 million people and dominated by educated workforce. "We're committed to create programs that are able to change the mindset of youth to become job creators," he explained. (Translator: Rina Alexandra)
