Basuki: Govt Officials Hesitating to Help Citizens will be Deactivated

Jakarta, InfoPublik –DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said that citizens needing assistance are encouraged to report to government officials in their region. If the officials are hesitated to help, citizens should report to him and the officials will be deactivated.

"So, for poor citizens who need help with anything, report to village headman. If the headman does not assist tou, report them to subdistrict head or mayor," Mr. Purnama said while inaugurating the Anggrek integrated child friendly public space (RPTRA) in South Jakarta on Thursday (5/19).

He will deactivate officials and local officials who refuse to assist troubled citizens. "Therefore, I ask the citizens to actively report the problems," he added.

“If they do not help, please send SMS to me. We will help by deactivating those who do not help,” he said.

Anggrek RPTRA is the 40th RPTRA inaugurated by Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. Facilities included there are ground field, sports arenas, early childhood education programs, lactation room, library, pharmacy garden, and others.

This year, Jakarta city government will build 150 RPTRAs and by 2017, they target to build 200 RPTRAs. "We'll procure lands to give each citizens' association (RW) one RPTRA," he said. (Translator: Wilda Stiana)
