The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo will visit London on 18-20 April 2016, as part of a tour of Europe. During the visit, he will be accompanied by Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Trade Thomas Lembong, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board Franky Sibarani, and Chairman of the Creative Economy Board Triawan Munaf. The President will also bring along with him more than 50 Indonesian entrepreneurs.
The President's visit will be an opportunity to increase collaboration on investment, culture of tolerance, education, sports event organization, and creative industry with the United Kingdom, one of the biggest economies in Europe.
In London on Tuesday 19 April, the President will meet UK Prime Minister David Cameron to discuss how to further strengthen the bilateral relationship and work together to further increase political, economic and socio-cultural relations between the two nations. The visit follows Prime Minister Cameron's successful visit to Jakarta in July 2015.
He will also give an address to members of the UK Parliament and delegates of the International Maritime Organization.
On Wednesday 20 April, the President will meet British businesses and invite them to further cement the business-to-business relations between the two countries.
Indonesia's Ambassador to the UK, Rizal Sukma, said:
" Indonesia's and Britain's shared values and common interests are reflected in our status as members of the G20, each representing the world's most important emerging and developed economies. We are ideal partners to build a strategic bridge between Asia-Pacific and Europe within an interconnected global network."
"The two main agendas that will be discussed during the visit are 'economic development' and 'culture of tolerance'. "
President Joko Widodo will then continue his visit to Belgium and The Netherlands.
