Six Patrol Vessels Oversee the Sunda Strait and Lombok Strait TSS

Jakarta, InfoPublik - The Directorate-General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation will hold a Law Enforcement Patrol Training in the Field of Traffic Safety in the Sunda Strait and the Lombok Strait Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) on June 23 and June 27, 2020, with the theme of Patrol and Law Enforcement in the Sunda Strait and Lombok Strait TSS.

 

The training aims to welcome the full enforcement of the TSS in the Sunda Strait and the Lombok Strait on July 1, 2020.

 

"In this training, the Directorate-General of Sea Transportation will deploy six Indonesian Sea and Coast Guard (KPLP) Patrol vessels to carry out law enforcement duties at sea. The duties are detection, identification, chasing, stopping, checking, investigating, and interrogating according to the correct procedures under the law," said the KPLP Director, Ahmad, Friday, 19 June 2020.

 

The six patrol vessels are KN Trident P.111 MDPV Patrol Ship class 1, KN Alugara P.114 MDPV Patrol Ship class 1, KN Clurit P-.203 type Patrol Ship class 2, KN. Cundrik P.204 type Patrol Ship class 2, KN Belati P.205 type Patrol Ship class 2, and KN. Jembio P.215 type Patrol Ship class 2.

 

According to Ahmad, this training aims to provide a briefing for the Patrol Vessels and Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) officers to understand the planning process mechanism of the Patrol and Law Enforcement operation in the Sunda Strait and Lombok Strait TSS. The training also aims to understand the systematic and integrated coordination within the Directorate-General of Sea Transportation and between agencies that have authority under statutory provisions.

 

Also, this training is in the context of supporting the realization of Indonesia as the World Maritime Axis, in particular, to improve the ability to plan logistical support and to control operations in the field.

 

"Some of the training activities are Table Top exercise for communication and movement of State Vessels at the Tanjung Priok Class I Navigation District Office, Patrol Readiness and Law Enforcement Assembly of Traffic Safety, and Field Maneuvers at the Sunda Strait and Lombok Strait TSS on June 27, 2020," Ahmad concluded.
