President Joko Widodo: Papua Is Extraordinary, Torang Hebat

Jayapura, InfoPublik – President Joko Widodo stated that the performance of Papua Province, the host of National Games (PON) XX and National Paralympic Games (Peparnas) XVI, has been great with both events were held with great successes.

“Support from all delegations from provinces was extraordinary. I saw exceptional sportsmanship and achievement of the para-athletes. I congratulate Papua Province for their achievement. In this Peparnas, Papua is the overall champion with most medals,” said the president in the closing ceremony of Peparnas XVI Papua at Mandala Stadium, Jayapura, on Saturday (11/13).

The president also congratulated Papua Province for their success as hosts of PON and Peparnas.

“Congratulations, para-athletes, particularly for Papuan para-athletes for their achievement. In conclusion, it is not just torang bisa (we can do it!), but torang hebat (we are great!),” said the president.

He also added that Peparnas conveyed many messages, such as demonstrating that hardship is not an obstacle. Through consistency and hard work, all kinds of hardships can be overcome and even make various achievements.

“Through PON and Peparnas in Papua, we demonstrated the great awakening of our national sports. We also celebrated diversity, honored equality, and together, we made achievements that made our nation proud. Once again, thank you for the hard work of all parties that made the 16th Peparnas a success,” said the president.

President Joko Widodo affirmed once more that it is not only torang bisa, but all of this showed that Papuan people are great (torang hebat).

“Once more, torang hebat. Hence, with great gratitude to the Almighty God, Alhamdulillahirabbil’alamin (praise be to God], I officially close the 16th National Paralympic Games in Papua in 2021. See you in North Sumatera and Aceh,” the president concluded.
